The project consists in the occupation of the ground through a reinforced concrete platform of 33.225sqm.
This platform responds to the programme of the Convention Centre through a parking lot with 3 levels (with a capacity for 3,150 cars and a total of 94.760sqm), a meeting room with 10.000sqm, a multipurpose room with 15.000sqm and a receptions room (conceived as a space of double height). All rooms have direct access from the parking areas of the truck parking and logistics.
On this platform 3 auditoriums are raised, also made of reinforced concrete, which through its specific function and its form (in bow), show up with a way that recalls the "Praise" and "Honour” to the architecture of Chillida.
The pedestrian access from the parking, taxis and buses, converge on a square which directs and distributes, the different areas and spaces that constitute the programme of the building. This distribution is made by an interior street, which leads the public to a large vestibule 1.900sqm high, giving access to 3 auditoriums with capacity for 5,000, 1,660 and 972 people respectively.
The order of the 3 auditoriums in bow, allows the roof of the square, to generate a large auditorium outdoors with excellent acoustic conditions.
Structurally there are two key elements: a large central bow, as a coffin, which relies on a perpendicular "tube" which houses within the top vestibules of the auditorium. The walls of the building and roof will made in reinforced concrete or prestressed, which makes the whole operation a three-dimensional fundamental to its overall balance.
