Since the beginning of the design of habitational complex, that the effectiveness and simplicity of the structural system were present in the development of the architectural solution. The cost control, durability, work "standardization" and the attempt to minimize the period of implementation was taken in consideration.
Conceptually, following a logic of adapting constructive solutions of easily and usual implementation in the region concerned (Great Lisbon) in a creative way to meet the requirements followed in the architectural orientation of exterior and interior spaces promotion but without over-burdening the low-cost and well-controlled construction and with rapid period of implementation.
The material adopted was the reinforced concrete, because it was considered easier to implement for most of the Portuguese construction companies, which is associated to a lower cost of construction and maintenance if the constructive measures and control in the process of work are prescribed.
The structural scheme developed identifies three areas with characteristic behavior: from the foundation to the -1 floor slab (garages area and technical areas); between -1 and floor 0 (access area to all housing – molten floor), from the ground floor to the roof (housing location). Thus, as described below in more detail from top to bottom, the four housing floors form a "box" that relies on a “mellow” floor, with the structural elements dispersed according to the architectural logic developed that download to another orthogonal array of pillars on the floor below which links to the foundations.
Structurally, in plant, all houses are a repetition of five modules along Antonio Navarro street.
