The form of the “Visitors Centre and Office Building” evolves around a parallelepiped. From the top, it presents itself with 54.5 by 20.4sqm and has a height of 22 m above ground level. There is still an underground level which is for use of technical installations and an auditorium.
The proposed structural solution for the upper levels was due to the swiftness and easiness of the execution along with the optimization of the space, taking into account its usage as 'open space' offices. Thus being composed by metallic alveolate grids (metallic beams that were supported by mixed pillars disposed of an inner mesh of 10.14 by 8 metres), permitting in this manner the crossing of the ventilation conducts, distributional conducts and the sprinkler feeding. Externally, consoles of 3.88 and 2.17m in the longitudinal and transversal directions respectively were built.
The proposed structural solution for this building sat on a concrete structure up to Ground floor including the two resisting nuclei, responsible for the absorption of the horizontal forces of the wind and of seismic activity.
Envisioning the existence of subterranean running water above the basement, a bottom structural slab monolithically linked to the exterior contention walls was considered, dimensioned to resist hydrostatic impulses.
