 The industrial complex for Portucel – Empresa Produtora de Pasta e Papel, S.A., at Figueira da Foz was inaugurated in 1984, being one of the greatest in Europe in terms of paper production. 

In 2000, the new unit PM2 (paper Machine 2) adjacent to the existing plant starts its activity in the industrial complex, as a result of a multidisciplinary team whose structural project was in charge of afassociados, having as its major responsibility to give a structural response to the specific functionalities of this type of factory buildings.
