Details
Brazil's representative pavilion at the 2020 World Exposition in Dubai.
The architects' idea was to create an exhibition building raised from the ground and surrounded by a water mirror where visitors can walk, covered by a metal structure in the shape of a cube surrounded by a screen, which at night turns into a screen where representative images of different regions of Brazil are projected.
The construction of the tensile structure was challenging, and required a demanding construction methodology that went through different phases: it started with the assembly on the ground of the façade trusses, after which they were hoisted until they reached a vertical position. This procedure was repeated on all the large façade trusses. The roof trusses were divided into 3 parts, welded to the ground, and then bolted to the façade trusses in a phased manner. The cube was completed with the assembly of the membrane.
